Shannyn developed a passion for social media and online network building during her stint as a graduate student in Chicago. At the time, she began blogging while working part-time and studying for her Master’s, but soon found that the opportunities of blogging outpaced those of the academy and crafted a swift career change!
Starting with FrugalBeautiful.com and picking up media mentions and award nominations along the way, Shannyn then developed BeautifulGiveaways.com and TheFrugalpreneur.com with a coordinating podcast for (broke) entrepreneurs on iTunes.
Needless to say, she’s done her homework, and absolutely loves taking on new projects to leverage her experience with social media in new and innovative ways.
There is nothing that fires her up more than working on projects to leverage the power of social media and ignite the masses! Being a social media manager on a variety of campaigns has enabled her to team up with some amazing new brands & brilliant small businesses- the best part of the job!
Currently, Shannyn lives in Chicago with her 8-year-old adopted pug, Ralph. Shannyn is an avid reader and she adores strong coffee {with soy milk} and dreams of owning her own Vespa Scooter. In January 2013, she ran her first Half Marathon – The Tinker Bell Half in Anaheim, California and since has committed herself to run 13 Half Marathons in 2013.
Let it be known that she also intensely hates zombies and has a fear of boarding of any kind {including but not limited to: snowboarding, skiing both water and snow, and skateboarding}. Despite this, she still attempts to be a badass, as long as it doesn’t involve hand-eye coordination paired with motion.
